The Easter Bunny is coming to Fennville
Posted: Apr 12, 2011

by Jim Lytle

And just like the mail carriers, “neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow will keep him from the swift completion of his appointed rounds.“

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 23rd, rain or shine and begin promptly at 2:00 pm. We’ll hold the event on the upper Elementary School playground area or inside the school building if the weather doesn’t cooperate. With Easter being so late this year it’s unlikely we’ll have snow on the ground as we have in several previous years.  True to form though, the Easter Bunny still “swiftly completed his appointed rounds” despite the snow.

All children ages 1 to 8 are welcome to join us. Separate areas will be set up for age groups 1 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 6o 6 and 7 to 8 so each child will be among his or her own age and size group. Every child should bring a basket or a bag to collect their eggs.  The Easter Bunny will be there live and in person and will be available for photo ops with the kids.

We’ll have over four thousand eggs to “hide”, each one filled with candy. Some of the eggs will have something extra special inside – a prize ticket!   Many lucky kids will go home with a very nice prize along with their plastic eggs and candy.

Filling four thousand plastic eggs with candy is no trivial task, as you might well imagine. As in previous years, we enlist the help of the community members at Golden Orchards to stuff the eggs for us. They’ll begin this task several weeks in advance of the Egg Hunt to be sure all is ready for the big day.

Our own Fennville Main Street Market has been our sponsor for the Easter Egg Hunt for the past six years. They provide the candy, eggs and prizes that have made our egg hunt so successful  over the years. Our thanks to Margee and Steve Overhiser, owners of Fennville Main Street Market, for their generous support.

We also thank our Fennville Lions Club, Chamber Board members and local scout troop for their help in making this event possible for our kids.  Hope to see your little ones there.
