Spring Dance Showcase by Discovery Dance of Fennville.
Posted: Apr 21, 2014

A cast of 20 local children and teens will take the stage on Friday, May 2 at 7:00 PM to showcase a very unique mix of dance styles and techniques. This free event will be held at Fennville High School’s Sheehan Auditorium.

“The Kissing Hand”, a 30 minute original children’s ballet based on the bestselling book by Audrey Penn, will be sure to enthrall youngsters of all ages. Children will relate to this heartwarming story as they watch a young raccoon who is afraid to go to school for the first time be comforted by a very special kiss from Momma Raccoon. Colorful imaginative costumes, upbeat music and lively dancing contribute to this delightful fine arts experience!

“Roar” and “Counting Stars” are short, technically excellent routines to be performed by the newly formed Discovery Dance competition teams. Other numbers to be performed at this showcase include “Gold”, “Blown Away”, “Skinny Love”, “Angel By Your Side”, “Lucia Di Lammermoor/Diva Dance”, and “The Best Day”.

Rehearsals have been in session since early September, and cast members spend an average of 5 hours a week in the studio practicing their skills and refining their art. Choreography is by Mari Stuppy, Catie Hauch and Claudette Lee.

Dancers are from Fennville, Pullman, Hamilton, Saugatuck and Holland. Cast list: Olivia Koch, Reghan Adams, Ainsley VanHowe, Macy Ilmberger, Zoey Giles, Cole Giles, Erica Haywood, Ally Giles, Sunny Schneider, Alonna Lee, Morgan Latchaw, Haley Rowder, Zoe TenHagen, Jessica Sanchez, Madison McAllister, Hannah Gooding, Callie Estrada, Calyssa Howard, Autumn Rosencrans, Sarah Moeller.
