Fennville Chamber holds Banquet

January 30, 2010

The Greater Fennville Chamber of Commerce held its
annual awards banquet on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at
FennValley Winery.  The seventh annual event was
catered by  Chef Matt Pietch, Executive
Chef from Salt of
the Earth Rustic American Eatery and Bakery,  located in
Downtown Fennville.

Newly appointed Greater Fennville President, Paul Hix
served as Master of Ceremonies for the event with special
guest speakers Sen. Patty Birkholz, and Rep Bob
Genetski.

The Chamber honors a local business each year with
the “Business of the Year” Award.  Any GFCC business
can be nominated, and the winner for 2010 is Dickinson
True Value Hardware, owned by Bob and Kym Zumbrink.
Dickinson True Value Hardware has been located in
downtown Fennville for over one hundred years.   Bob and
Kym bought the store from Kym’s dad, the late Charlie
Dickinson and expanded on the original store.
Congratulations to Dickinson True Value Hardware and its
staff on this award.

The Robert Hutchinson, Citizen of the Year Award was
named after the first recipient of the award.  Mr. & Mrs.
Hutchinson provided the Fennville area with years of
service.  This year’s winners are Dr. Ken & Judy Kratzer.
Both Ken and Judy were nominated separately and
together for this award for their years of behind the scene
service to the community.  Dr Kratzer came out of
retirement to open the Medical Center when it was lost due
to relocation to another community.  Judy was the driving
force for Discovery School and has served on the
Chamber Board along with volunteering on other
community events.

The evening was capped off with the comedy of I-94, a
group of comedians from the Chicago area that specialize
in impromptu humor.  I-94 uses suggestions from the
audience as well as audience participation which created a
fun filled event that had everyone on the edge of their
seats for the entire night.

The Greater Fennville Chamber of Commerce would
like to thank everyone who attended this successful event.
