27th Annual Fennville Goose Festival to Debut New Logo
Fennville's Goose Festival has a new logo this year. Executive Director of the festival for her second year, Sandi Busscher wanted to bring a freshness to the festival and thought that "a new logo that would be more cohesive with the newer Greater Fennville Chamber of Commerce, City of Fennville and Fennville DDA logos was a key elemenet to that change." The logo was designed by Michele Overweg Spans, a native of Fennville. Overweg Spans kept many aspects of the festival in mind while designing, including the carnival, 5k race, as well as the time of year. She also took the time to reflect on a story passed on to her about geese representing community. The storythat geese fly in community, and when the leader of the flying V gets tired, the geese rotate out to ease the strain of leading the flock. It also points out that when one goose struggles or is hurt, another goose lands and stays with it until the hurt goose is healed or passes away, joining another flock afterward. Overweg Spans conveyed this sense of community in her design, just as Fennville actively lives this kind of community. Busscher is excited about the addition of activities, including the Goose Calling competition, Animal Oasis Petting Zoo, and Battle of the Bands.

The 27th Annual Goose Festival officially runs October 8th and 9th, with the carnival setting up at the school complex Friday night. Kicking the festival off is the Wild Goose Chase 5k, and continues with several activities including the Gosling Run for kids, the Goose Festival Parade, a classic car show, student art shows, historical exhibits, goose calling competitions, an arts and crafts show, a petting zoo, performances by Discovery Dance and Zion Lion, Battle of the Bands, and lots more!
